Well I'm sitting here removing crusty blood from my nostrils!!! The result of major impact between nose and back end of boom!! I have never known so much blood flow from an injury. As i sailed back to the beach it was blowing everywhere!! Had a crash helmet on too, but you cant avoid a sharp object straight on the nose without looking like an ice hockey goal keeper!! I'm pretty sure its broken, but damage is limited to a slight shift to the left!!! Oh yeah, also smashed a knuckle so that one finger now only closes to the perfect boom hook-shape, thats evolution for you!!

It was worth it though. Sailed at Lancing from 2-4pm. Solo mission in superb cross on wave conditions. Nice big lumps pushing in and peeling to the right. Even at 2pm, there was almost no shorebreak, just a minutes wait for a gap then away you go. Started on a 4.5m and that was fully powered most of the time and almost unbearable in the gusts and going upwind. Still, the extra power was needed on the inside for bearing downwind on the waves. Had some decent big jumps too, with the set waves standing up nicely. Wave riding soon wore my arms out, especially after month long wait for proper wind, so changed down to 4m Ezzy and all was well. By then waves were reducing rapidly, but much fun was had until facial destruction!!!
